Terms & Conditions
During the show, all contestants will walk across the stage and show off their costumes to the audience. The judges may ask each contestant a few questions. Contestants will be expected to stay for the entire duration of the competition.
Online entries are due by June 10th, 2020, at 11:59pm. If there are still available slots after the online form closes, we will accept a limited number of in-person applications at the event.
All participants must have valid 2020 PartyUP! admission.
All participants must read and agree to follow all rules of the Cosplay Contest.
By registering for the Cosplay Contest, all participants agree to allow PartyUP! to use their images for promotional purposes, both photographs and video.
All Ages are welcome. Costumes required for all participants unless they are an adult acting as chaperone to a costumed minor. Minors 15 and under require a chaperone age 18 or older.
Contest & Event Rules
This is a family friendly event. No nudity.
No profanity. This includes messages on signs or clothing.
Performances containing political or religious statements are prohibited.
All prop weapons must conform to the Weapons Policy. No real, or realistic guns, knives, swords, hammers, spears or other weapons are allowed at all, including Airsoft and similar guns. This includes attendees with a concealed carry permit. Any weapon or replica weapon must be made of plastic or foam to be allowed into the event.
No projectiles. Anything that can be tossed or launched are prohibited.
Flash pots, explosives, or similar special effect devices are not allowed.
You must have some kind of foot covering. Shoes or boots are required. Be aware of safety concerns. If your character does not wear shoes the lack of accuracy will be forgiven; consider flesh-toned or clear shoes.
No skits during the judging period.
Costumes must be self-contained.
Large elaborate costumes must be handled by the contestant and/or assistants the contestant brings to help.
No jumping on or off stage.
Anyone who violates these rule may be disqualified from the competition and may be asked to leave the convention area.
At least 60% of the costume needs to be made, built, or created by you to win prizes. You can still enter, but you may not win prizes.
This includes: Sewing, Building weaponry/armor, painting, crafting. You can take pre-made clothing items and alter them, (Example: Altering a bodysuit, purchasing pre-made boots but making a corset or cloak. Purchasing a pre-made wig but making an entire armor out of craft foam/foam mats/worbla and/or fabric).
